The international Human-Animal-Studies-Conference, which took place from 6th to 8th of February 2014 in Innsbruck, was among others dedicated to overcome the divide between theory and practice as well as to support a changing view on nonhuman animals from objects to individuals with own interests and experiences. The interdisciplinarity and breadth of Human-Animal-Studies was shown with more than 50 lectures, which were organized into five sections:
